Biologique chooses the highest quality foods available. As we continue to search for better nutrition, it becomes increasing clear that organic food is better for us. As a result, Biologique has dedicated to provide only certified organic food.
Is Certified Organic really better? Many studies have been completed to proove this two sided science battle. Others suggest just the opporsite. Whatever the results are, they may never be completely accurate. No two plots of soil are the same and therefore the double blind study becomes inaccurate. Several studies, however, confirm that organic foods contain more nutrients and less chemicals which have been identified as toxic. For more informaiton, check out our research archives. What does Certified Organic mean? Certified Organic is a process to ensure how a food (such as plants and amimals) has been grown or raised. Certified Organic refers to the farming technique moreso than the food itself. As for plants, organic farming does not use pesticides of any sort. Pesticides have been shown to decrease nutrient density of the soil, creating less nutritious plants and encouraging soil erosion. In addition, pestides encourage the release of more carbon emissions into the atmoshpere and is at the forefront of concern for Global Warming. Many thousands of people in the US suffer from pesticide-related poisoining every year. As for animals, organic farming does not use antibiotics, growth hormones, or other unnatural "health" measures to treat the life of the animal. Farming animals, such as livestock, have become increasing unhealthy. These unhealthy animals set the stage for a number of "treatments" such as pasteurized dairy products and antibiotics. Currently, cattle are responsible for over 70% of all antibiotics consumed in America.
It is important to note that organic farming is not a new technique. While it continues to generate more and more attention, organic farming has been around since the first day of life. Conventional farming, which is chemically-intensive, is a new farming technique which started development in the 1930's. The first pesticide was produced from excess gas from Nazi Germany. How can I be sure I'm spending my money wisely on food? Americans spend less money on food than any other developed country. This is amazing considering we eat more food than any other country. We have become addicted to buying the cheapest food available, not the best. This may be contributing to our vastly diminishing health status. More expensive food, on the other hand, is not always better. It is our belief the most expensive food is the least natural. When choosing to buy organic, the first action step is to always look for the USDA Organic label. Companies will go through the trouble to be sure their products are clean and pure and will be rewarded with the USDA Organic label. Secondly, consume as little processed food as possible. Just because it's organic doesn't mean it's good for you. Organic is simply one filter in the quest to choosing healthy foods. Thirdly, choose foods that promote health, not dis-ease. How do I know what foods are healthy? This has to be the most asked question when it comes to nutrition. Use this "filter" to get your answer: If the food was here more than 100 years ago, chances are favorable it's good for you. If the food wasn't here more than 100 years ago, chances are favorable it isn't good for you. Why just "favorable"? We're all different. Some people respond well to foods like peanuts while others don't. It was said centuries ago "What is one man's food is another man's poison".
